Ich cleaning

I had to remove the filter media and add medicine to the tank. The fish had white dots all over them.

Using a medication that turns the tank blue.

turned the light off....

New glass cleaner

I bought a new glass cleaner. It's a two part device that holds together by a magnet. One part goes in the tank, the other part sits on the outside and I can scrub the tank without having to get my hands wet!

so awesome.

Light off

It's a shame the lights are off. I wish I could check in on sal, riddick and fatty.

It's ok. Oneandonlyann fed the fish at the end of the day so I know they're doing well.

My girlfriend says her ring money was spent on fishcam. Surprsingly, she probably true. (Shhh don't tell her)

Saturday Maintenance

Saturday again!

Came in to do my weekend water change and feeding. Everybody is looking great. I did a bunch of research on food for the fish and I realized that the frozen Krill (shrimp) I have been feeding them is NO GOOD. Turns out it doesn't have enough nutrients and fish could die from being malnourished. My guy (http://www.scaquaticdesign.com/) told me that I should be feeding them something with more meat. I went to stop and shop and bought a bag of frozen raw shrimp. I cut the shrimp in to pieces. Sucked that food down like nobody's business...

George the Blenny

I named the new Blenny George. He's doing exactly what I purchased him to do. He is cleaning up the sand at the bottom of the tank. The Puffers are very messy eaters and usually let little chunks fall to the bottom.

That's a good George....

Sunday

Went in to do a feeding today. My guy said that the porcupine puffer (Riddick) is looking really thin. I fed him a little bit but he didn't seem to really have an appetite. I can't find the striped damsel so I was looking under the stand to find him but instead I found a dried up fish that I haven't seen in over a month. He must have jumped out at some point...

Moved more rocks around and tried to keep them towards the back of the tank. The stand wobbles sometimes so I am going to engineer a brace to attach it to the wall. Last thing I need is to find my fishtank shattered on the floor...

BLENNY!

WHAT YOU LOOKING AT!

Consultant

He's impressed that I set up my fishtank properly because he hasn't seen it since it was a freshwater tank. He talked alot of "smack" about my Green Spotted Puffer the first couple times but now that it's a salt-water tank he thinks the fish is a great addition and has some great color. He was supposed to come help me build a sump (new filtration ) for the fish tank but he just came to take measurements. Turns out he might have a sump at home that would do the job...

We went to Deathco (petco) and picked up the fish. I'm glad he came with me because I would have bought a sick fish. I have decided that i'm not going to buy fish anymore from fish stores. He imports fish from fiji and from hawaii so I'm just going to ask him to order me fish on his next shipment.

He said that ich really isn't a big deal. I could do things like drop the salt concentration or raise the temperature and that would do a good enough job at killing them off.

Also - I noticed there was a problem with the stand and the tank. Sometimes the floor dips and the tank starts to shake a little. The tank and the stand are initially his and he said that he hadn't noticed the stand being a problem in the past. I think I am going to screw the stand in to the wall so that way there is less of a "wobble" effect when people walk buy.

I told him that people complain about the smell of the food i use for the puffers. He said that he uses regular shrimp from Stop and Shop. Also, he thinks the puffer is malnourished so he suggested I hand feed that fish twice a day until he fattens up...

FISH CAM!

New Fish!

Lawnmower Blenny :
This is a picture of him from my fish tank! he's found himself a nice comfortable spot sitting in the clam. I bought him to eat up some of the krill that the puffer's dont eat. There's alot of waste on the bottom of the tank that i'm hoping he'll take care of.

Striped Damsel ( black and white fish that i'm too lazy to get a photo of).

Consultant

Got my consultant coming in today. Gonna ask him a bunch of questions about fish disease, filtration, lighting and more.

WHOSE EXCITED!!!!

Ich

The disease has made it's way to another fish. The mono has white dots all over him. Now I need to pull out all of the filter media (sponges, carbon, noodles) and run this green Copper chemical through the tank for like a week.

Treatment starts tomorrow!

timer

Took me 3 days to figure out how to work the timer. I think I got it though!

Sunday Maintenance

Added a timer for the light fixture. 7:45 am to 8:30pm ( I think ) . I was sad that the fish weren't getting light on the weekends.

I noticed that the porcupine puffer had a bunch of white dots on him. This is normally a BAD sign. It is usually a fish disease called "ich" but i think it's a little different for salt-water fish. I gave the porcupine puffer a 2 minute freshwater bath and raised the temperature of the water.

Wanted to buy a new fish today but my girlfriend wouldn't let me which I think is a good thing since one of the fish is sick...

maybe next week.

Feeding

Did my first feeding for fishcam. I found a nice camera angle for the feeding process. You can see the two puffers fight for the shrimp I put in there for them.

Nice view... I saved it for the next feeding.

Don't forget to vote on what time you want feedings to occur.
